About the Animal Emergency Clinic

Twenty years ago, each local veterinary clinic in this region managed its own emergencies or covered each other's emergencies in rotation.

In 1987, 13 local veterinary practices joined together and established a clinic to serve greater Portland's emergency cases in a formalized way. The Animal Emergency Clinic and its staff are dedicated specifically to veterinary emergency and critical care - treating patients and helping pet owners from southern, western and mid coast Maine, as well as parts of New Hampshire.
